Living close to the sea is a beautiful thing but brings challenges to choosing the correct type of lighting. Even the lightest sea breeze so pleasant and bracing to breathe and enjoy is constantly lifting sea spray and becoming salt laden carries it's highly corrosive saline vapour up to ten miles inland. Normal painted finish steel outdoor lighting is eaten away in a matter of months.

Maintenance is still important
In the same way that windows and paint work are washed regularly on a well maintained house MR.LIGHT LIMITED highly recommend that every three months washing down with fresh tap water stainless steel and brass outdoor light fittings in order to maintain look and performance. Glass lenses will allow 100% clean sparkling LED light to pass through with the elimination of salty grim and the colour of stainless steel will be prolonged. Once salt is allowed to collect on the surface of stainless steel where there is constant moisture desolving this salt then a highly corrosive solution develops which will discolour the brightness of even marine grade stainless steel. The intended look of the solid brass LED outdoor lights is 'weathered' which will darken further with exposure to a saline atmosphere but can be polished back to a bright shine if required.
Very high ingress protection.
The ingress protection rating for most of the MR.LIGHT imbedded LED outdoor lighting suitable for coastal situations is very high at IP 68 which means 'protection against the prolonged effects of submersion up to a depth of 9 meters / 1 x bar of pressure.'
